TV Spot for new Seinfeld show uses my uber-low-priced RF image
This weekend while I was sitting in front of my TV watching my beloved Dallas Cowboys kick the tar out of Philadelphia in the first round of the NFL playoffs, a promo for Jerry Seinfield’s new show, Marriage Ref, came on the tube.

It includes an image I shot for Getty Images’ RF collection several years ago of an older woman in curlers eating popcorn on a bed.

That is pretty amazing. Too bad you’re not seeing more money out of that, Greg; but a great showcase for your work! I’d say (though the lack of remuneration is obviously an annoyance), let that go and build on what’s happened. Brag about the national exposure!!!

Yes, you are correct that this is nice thing to toot my horn about. However, when I speak about the “Decline” of the photography industry, I was simply using this image to illustrate a point. I am quite “Surprised” that a Royalty Free image was used for a national TV ad for the reasons I blogged about. If you are an actor and you appeared in the advertisement in a role of moving images, perhaps you have more bragging rights and it would help your career.

I’m confused. If you didn’t want your image to be used, why sell it royalty free? More to the point, why would a TV Network pay big bucks for an image, when one is available royalty free?
Great pictures by the way.
