Great, we weren’t given compensation for web use either and now no one wants to pay for it. The same will happen with video. Give it once and when you are broke in 3 years because they only want video for nothing and not stills at all, slap yourself really hard.
It is once again, up to photographers to charge what they think they are worth. So I would encourage all photographers not to simply treat video as a freebie.
I once was asked to do video along with still. I said fine, pay me the rate for a videographer. They said, no thanks. Sent the reporter with a video camera that she didn’t know how to use, and I wound up basically doing the video for them. For nothing! Signs of the times.
